Beliefs and Statements
Summit Mountain Camp is an interdenominational Christian Bible Camp. Decisions regarding activities, content, and staff selection and training are based on a Biblical worldview and in keeping with our Mission and Vision Statements to reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our Vision:
Our Vision is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the unsaved and promote a culture and worldview where believers are discipled to passionately serve Jesus Christ by joyfully evangelizing and training other disciples.
Our Mission:
We use recreational and training initiatives to facilitate relationship-building activities focused on evangelism and spiritual growth. We use training, Bible study, and Biblical counselling to create a place for disciples to thrive in their walk with God.
Statement of Faith:
J2k Ministries Condensed Statement of Faith
A. The Holy Scriptures
a. We believe that the Bible is God’s written revelation to man, complete, verbally inspired, absolutely inerrant in the original documents, infallible, and God-breathed (inspired) through the Holy Spirit.
b. 1 Corinthians 2:7-14; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16
B. God as a Triune Being
a. We believe there is one true God, existing eternally and infinitely in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are One in essence, equal in divinity and power, but with different roles in the Godhead. Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
b. God the Father
I. We believe and teach that God the Father, the first Person of the Trinity, orders and disposes all things according to His own purpose and grace. He is the Creator of all things. As the only absolute and omnipotent Ruler in the universe, He is sovereign in creation, providence, and redemption. His fatherhood involves both His designation within the Trinity and His relationship with mankind. Psalm 145:8-9; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Genesis 1:1-31; Ephesians 3:9; Psalm 103:19; Romans 11:36
II. He saves from sin all who come to Him through Jesus Christ; He adopts as His own all those who come to Him; and He becomes, upon adoption, Father to His own. John 1:12; Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:5; Hebrews 12:5-9
c. God the Son
I. We believe and teach that Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, possesses all the divine excellencies, and in these He is coequal, consubstantial, and coeternal with the Father. John 10:30; 14:9
II. We believe and teach that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary and thus born of a woman, so that two whole, perfect, and distinct natures, the divine and the human, were joined together in one person, without confusion, change, division, or separation. He is therefore very God and very man, yet one Christ, the only mediator between God and man. Luke 1:35; Galatians 4:4-5
III. We believe and teach that our Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through the shedding of His blood and sacrificial death on the cross and that His death was voluntary, vicarious, substitutionary, propitiatory, and redemptive. John 10:15; Romans 3:24-25; 5:8; 1 Peter 2:24
IV. We believe and teach that in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave, God confirmed the deity of His Son and gave proof that God has accepted the atoning work of Christ on the cross. Jesus’ bodily resurrection is also the guarantee of a future resurrection life for all believers. John 5:26-29; 14:19; Romans 1:4; 4:25; 6:5-10; 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23
d. God the Holy Spirit
I. We believe and teach that Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, possesses all the divine excellencies, and in these He is coequal, consubstantial, and coeternal with the Father. John 10:30; 14:9
II. We believe and teach that it is the work of the Holy Spirit to execute the divine will with relation to all mankind. We recognize His sovereign activity in creation, the incarnation, the written revelation, and the work of salvation Genesis 1:2; Matthew 1:18; 2 Peter 1:20-21; John 3:5-7
C. The Nature of Mankind
a. We believe that all of mankind was made by God in His image, originally free from sin. Man, in Adam, disobeyed God’s command resulting in both physical and spiritual death and the severing of the perfect relationship with God. All mankind is born in sin, except Jesus Christ, and is completely reliant on the grace of God for forgiveness and salvation. Genesis 2:7; Romans 3:23; 6:23
D. Salvation
a. We believe that salvation is wholly a work of God by grace, through faith, on the basis of the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. This redemptive work includes His perfect life lived for us, the shedding of His blood through His sacrificial death, and His resurrection and ascension to the right hand of God. Our salvation is not on the basis of human merit or works. Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19
b. We believe and teach that regeneration is a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit by which new spiritual life is given (John 3:3-7; Titus 3:5). It is instantaneous and is accomplished solely by the power of the Holy Spirit through the instrumentality of the Word of God (John 5:24) when the repentant sinner, as enabled by the Holy Spirit, responds in faith to the divine provision of salvation. Genuine regeneration is manifested by fruits worthy of repentance as demonstrated in righteous attitudes and conduct.
E. Angels and Demons
a. We believe that angels and demons were both created by God originally as angels; the demons are angels who, along with Satan as an original Chief Angel, chose to rebel against God and have since been at war with God and His people.
b. This warfare is evidenced by Satan working out ways to lead people into temptation or instigating instances of demonization, oppression, chaos, and/or conflict. Hebrews 1:6-7, 14; 2:6-7; Matthew 4:1-11
F. Origins and History
a. We believe in the literal historical account of origins presented in Genesis 1-11. It is factual in all aspects, including actual events, timelines, and historical references.
b. We believe the flood was an historical event where water covered the surface of the entire earth, and that only those on the Ark were saved.
c. We believe that the gap theory, progressive creation, day-age, framework hypothesis, theistic evolution (i.e., evolutionary creation), functionality–cosmic temple, analogical days, day-gap-day, and any other views that try to fit evolution or millions of years into Genesis are incompatible with Scripture.
d. We believe the “days” referred to in Genesis 1-11 were literal 24-hour days and not undefined periods of time.
G. Eternity
a. We believe that those who have placed their faith in the person of Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of their sins and to be their Lord will spend eternity with God in the new heaven and new earth. Those who have not placed their faith in Christ for salvation are not written in the Book of Life and are cast into hell, which is the Lake of Fire. Revelation 20:11-15
E. The Christian Life
a. True faith is always accompanied by repentance from sin. Repentance is agreeing with God that you are sinful, confessing your sins to Him and asking for His forgiveness, and making a conscious choice to turn from sin (Luke 13:3,5; 1 Thessalonians 1:9) and pursue Christ (Matthew 11:28-30; John 17:3) and obedience to Him (1 John 2:3).
b. It isn’t enough to believe certain facts about Christ. Even Satan and his demons believe in the true God (James 2:19), but they don’t love and obey Him. True saving faith always responds in repentance and obedience resulting in the ongoing process of sanctification (Ephesians 2:10).
