About Us

Who We Are

Summit Mountain Camp is a wilderness camp ministry with J2K Ministries. Our mission is to introduce young people to the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, encouraging them to explore their faith and grow closer to God.

The wilderness has always been a place where people can let down their walls, take time to reflect, and experience God in a fresh way. Between time spent on horseback, absorbing the breath-taking views, or sitting around the campfire, and digging into the Bible to unearth new truths about Jesus, SMC desires to show that God and the Bible are just as relevant today as ever before, presenting the most logical answers to some of life’s toughest and most puzzling questions.

Meet the Team:

SMC is operated by a local committee that is overseen by Executive Director Aaron Harbidge. The Executive Board for J2K Ministries oversees the legal and spiritual details of the camp program. You can find out more about J2K Ministries HERE.  Aaron Harbidge can be contacted HERE with any questions you may have; he is always happy to chat about camp!

Our Story:

SMC started as an idea many years ago. In 2010 Aaron Harbidge volunteered for a summer at Blue Bronna Wilderness Camp. This experience introduced him to the unforgettable experience of spending time on horseback in the Rocky Mountains.

Fast forward to 2017 and a conversation with his friend, Justin Stewart, while on the way to a farrier client. They began discussing the idea of starting a mountain wilderness camp in the future, and what that could look like. The idea was put in the slow cooker for several years until 2023 when God brought everything together for the start of a new wilderness camp specifically designed around the interests and needs of older teens!
